The Grammys are getting historic, y'all!
It's been announced that the cast of the hit Broadway show Hamilton will be performing a number from the acclaimed musical at the 58th Grammy Awards!
Lin-Manuel Miranda and his cast announced that they would be performing via satellite from the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York!
This performance will mark only the eighth time in history that musical theater has been featured on the award show — the most recent being the cast of American Idiot back in 2010.
Other musicals that took to the Grammy stage were Godspell in 1972, The Magic Show in 1975, Sophisticated Ladies in 1982, La Cage Aux Folles in 1984, Will Rogers Follies in 1992, Riverdance and Bring In Da Noise, Bring In Da Funk in 1997!
But the Hamilton segment will be historic for another reason — it's also only the fourth
The Academy wasn't the only institution to release its contenders for this year's awards — the nominees for the 2016 BRIT Awards were also revealed on Thursday!
Topping the list with four nominations is (who else?) Adele, who is up for Album of the Year, British Female Solo Artist, British Single, and British Video of the Year!
For the Female Solo Artist category, the crooner will be going up against the late Amy Winehouse, who was nominated for the soundtrack to her Oscar-nominated documentary Amy!
Tied with the 25 songstress are breakthrough musicians James Bay and Years & Years, who scored four nods each!
Check out the full list of nominees (below) and watch The Brits on February 24!
In the memoir Loving Amy by Amy's mom Janis Winehouse, there's a lot of speculation about her health prior to becoming famous. While it's no secret Winehouse was a bit of a wild child and drug abuser while growing up in England, Janis theorizes there was more to her daughter's larger than life personality.
According to J.W., Amy could have suffered from Tourettes Syndrome. The mom explained:
"She could well have been almost Tourette's, where she would just shout things out. We just do not know."
Hmm, how interesting. It's unfortunate we'll never know the full truth about Winehouse's alleged condition.
Despite A.W.'s vocal and physical tics, Janis couldn't say better things about her daughter as a creative person.
The momma gushed:
Life isn't always so easy growing up in the spotlight.
We've watched Justin Bieber mature (?) through every up and down in the public eye since he was a preteen. While that's part of the deal when pursuing a career in entertainment — it can definitely take its toll.
In an interview with NME which will be released Friday, the 21-year-old singer opened up about the flip side of fame that he struggles with every day.
The Sorry singer shared:
"I just want people to know I'm human. I'm struggling just to get through the days. I think a lot of people are. You get lonely, you know, when you're on the road. People see the glam and the amazing stuff, but they don't know the other side. This life can rip you apart."
"I watched the Amy Winehouse documentary [Amy] on the plane and I had tears in my eyes because I could see what the media was doing to her, how they were treating her. People thought it was funny to poke her when she was at rock bottom, to keep pushing her down until she had no more of herself. And that's what they were trying to do to me."
The Canada native — whose new album Purpose comes out on Friday — admitted that despite he's constantly surrounded by attention, he often feels alone:
He sure is helping us stock up on new music before his hiatus.
Sammy stopped by BBC Radio 1 on Thursday to premiere Love is a Losing Game for Annie Mac… and it sounds like it was written specifically for his soulful voice.
Amy's lyrics paired with Sam's powerhouse vocals make for an absolutely beautiful track that will leave you in tears. Seriously.
Ch-ch-check out Sam Smith's rendition of the Amy Winehouse classic (above)!!!
We could get on board with this idea!
Since then, we've gotten a bit more information about her life which involved quite a bit of drug use.
Just this year, we got a VERY well-received documentary called Amy which took a look behind the scenes of the star's rise to fame.
But Hollywood isn't done yet as a biopic about the Rehab singer's life is in the works!
The film — to be written and directed by Irish filmmaker Kristen Sheridan – hasn't been cast yet, but Girl With The Dragon Tattoo actress
If it wasn't already clear, she certainly has good taste.
Adele is just two weeks away from releasing her third studio album, 25, and to gear up for what's going to be the biggest pop culture moment of the year, she's saying hello to practically every outlet!
In her most recent interview with Rolling Stone, the now-27-year-old comes clean — both literally and figuratively — as she takes off her makeup and opens up about her career being her hobby, not her life.
And while she claims that her three-year absence since she won an Oscar for Skyfall has left her out of the loop when it comes to what's current, her love for certain artists would certainly beg to differ.
In fact, Adele seems to have some #SquadGoals of her own and is actually quite fond of Rihanna, saying:
