Though the movie is still in its pre-production stages, there could be some trouble ahead for getting the next Pirates of The Caribbean movie off the ground.
And that trouble's name is Johnny Depp.
Though he surprised a packed house at the Disney D23 expo last week in full Captain Jack Sparrow attire to promote the next film, the sudden departure of Disney chairman Dick Cook has the actor dismayed about the continuation of the project. This past weekend, he opened up to the LA Times about the move, saying that there is "a fissure, a crack in my enthusiasm at the moment."
Dick Cook was the reason Johnny had signed up for the Pirates projects from the beginning, and with him gone, and with new suits in place and the script only provisionally complete, Johnny's commitment to Pirates may falter out of loyalty to his friend.
No Johnny, no Jack, no movie.
Maybe that is a good thing.

You've got a wait ahead of you since the movie doesn't hit theaters for another three years.
However we can help you out by telling you the name of the film so you can stop referring to it as the fourth one.
Here it is: Pirates of the Caribbean: In Strange Waters!
Today, the big announcement was made at the Walt Disney Co.'s D23 Expo in Anaheim, just as Johnny Depp himself surprised an audience of 5,000 people by appearing on stage, in full costume and character, as Captain Jack Sparrow!
Johnny arrived in style in a gliding replica of his famous Black Pearl ship and cracked jokes with the audience about rum and the tasty dish that appeared before him - Kermit the Frog! Johhny Jack joked: "probably tastes like chicken."
We're not going to lie - we're a bit jealous we couldn't have been there.

Warning!
If you want to be surprised by the long awaited third installment of the Toy Story franchise, don't read the rest.
There is still awhile before this flick hits theaters, but we've got the scoop on some scenes, plot points, and new characters in Toy Story 3.
For starters, since it's been ten years since the last film, times have certainly changed in Buzz and Woody's world. Their owner, Andy, is all grown up and heading for college, which means, no more toys:
"…the toys end up being sent to a daycare [center], where they are horribly abused by the little kids - and after that it's time for a break-out attempt to find a safe haven, and hopefully a new owner, in a cruel world."
One of the first scenes from the movie finds Woody in somewhat of a predicament, as he is the only toy Andy decides to hold onto. Empire Magazine was shown an exclusive clip, which they describe:
"The clip showed Andy packing from college, and emptying all his toys into a black bin bag for storage in the attic. He hesitates over Woody and Buzz, finally putting Woody in the box of things to take for college. But all the toys are panicked - especially Woody, who's worried for his friends. When Andy is distracted by his little sister and leaves the garbage bag on the landing instead of upstairs in the attic, his mother takes it out to the kerb - and a frantic Woody has to save his friends from a rapidly approaching bin lorry."
And as with most sequels, there will be a new face welcomed to the group. Mister 007 himself, Timothy Dalton, will be voicing a character named Mr. Pricklepants, "a hedgehog toy with thespian tendencies."
We think this has some promise. Since they've had 10 years, it better deliver, that's for sure.

A solid choice we think. Mandy Moore has one of those squeaky, cutesy voices perfect for this.
Sources reveal that Mandy will be lending her vocals to the latest Disney animated feature, Rapunzel, as the princess herself!
The movie has some potential that past Disney flicks haven't, mainly since music man Alan Menken, who also did Beauty and The Beast & Aladdin, will be composing.
Voicing opposite Mandy will be Chuck star Zachary Levi as "the bandit who finds himself on the road with the rebellious" Rapunzel.
This revamp of the classic fairytale "picks up with the princess, famous for her 70 feet of golden hair, after she's been stolen from her parents' castle as an infant and imprisoned. Now a teenager, Rapunzel escapes and goes on the run with a bandit as her captor pursues them."
All the makings of wholesome family fun.
Will U go see the movie?

Teri Hatcher is the latest celebrity turned triathlete.
The Desperate Housewife will be participating in the upcoming Nautica Malibu Triathlon on September 13th.
Why? Because it was on the 70 44 year-old's "bucket list"!
She says, "I want to learn to play a couple of songs on the guitar. I want to learn a few of those fancy dances from one of those Dancing with the Stars teachers. And I want to run a triathlon."
Timing couldn't have been better for Hatcher, because she was also approached by the peeps over at the House of Mouse to lead a team in this year's triathlon.
In the past month, Hatcher has stepped up her training riding her bike to work sometimes four times a week!
In addition to participating in the triathlon she's also raising money for the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.
Sounds like a great way to get in shape and raise money for a good cause!

After being the spokesperson for their Trick-or-Treat campaign last October, Selena Gomez has now been officially appointed the youngest Ambassador for UNICEF!
What an honor!
Selenita says of her new charitable role:
"Every day 25,000 children die from preventable causes. I stand with UNICEF in the belief that we can change that number from 25,000 to zero. I know we can achieve this because every moment, UNICEF is on the ground providing children with the lifesaving assistance needed to ensure zero becomes a reality."
The Wizards of Waverly Place actress is heading off to Ghana this week on her first official field-mission as an Ambassador.
Caryl Stern, President and CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, is happy with their choice, stating:
"We're very pleased to have Selena join the UNICEF family, as a long time supporter, she will continue to capture and engage and audience of millions of young people to help ensure the health, education, equality and protection of every child."
And this is why she is one of our absolute favorite Disney stars!
Good for you, bb!
You're a real pole role model!

If you were hoping that the Broadway version of Spider-Man was going to receive a little bailout help from the Disney corporation, hope no more.
Disney won't be hitching it's money wagon to that sticky web!
Though the news that Disney will acquire Marvel in a $4 billion deal may have provided some hope, there really is no logical way for it to work. At least not now.
For starters, the production has been rumored to get back into the swing of things this week, which is in no way long enough for Disney to finalize a deal with Marvel.
Furthermore, Marvel was never a fiscal entity for the production of Spider-Man, but rather only the licensing company. No reason to be throwing money at the show now when they didn't before.
But you never know - Dreams may come true for the billion dollar Broadway show that could. Perhaps the Mouse will find it in his heart to share the cheddar.

Major deal$ are going down in Hollywood today!
The Walt Disney Company has purchased Marvel Entertainment Inc. for $4 billion in cash and stock!!!!
Wow.
Disney now owns the catalogue of 5,000 Marvel characters, including Fantastic Four and X-Men.
The big wigs over at Mickey Mouse's house hope that by owning the comic book characters, Disney will now appeal to a larger audience than tween girls obsessed with Miley Cyrus and the JoBros.
"It helps Disney add exposure to a young male demographic it had sort of lost some balance with," says David Joyce, analyst for Miller Tabak & Co.
Disney CEO Robert Iger believes the combination of Marvel's "strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters" will go along smashlingly with Disney's "unparalleled global portfolio of entertainment properties."
What do U think of the big merge????
