George Michael's recent drug arrest might have cost him a Lifetime Achievement Brit Award, but it's not standing in the way of his money-making!

The $5.2 billion Emirate Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi has just ponied up $1.7 million for Georgie to play there in November.

Drugs are bad, bad, bad!

George Michael screwed himself out of a big award with his recent cocaine-related arrest.

The singer was set to receive the Outstanding Contribution to Music award at next years Brits, but the award show bosses have reported now decided to find another candidate after the bust.

Hope you're really getting your shiz together this time round, George!

As we mentioned last week, following George Michael's latest arrest this month for drug possession, the singer and his longtime boyfriend were spotted leaving their home in London with six large suitcases.

His publicist had said Michael was in the south of France trying to get away.

He's a liar.

And, although many were hoping Michael was heading to rehab, that's not the case. Turns out the troubled musician is actually in South Africa.

The Times has discovered that Michael and his boytoy have been staying at the upscale, $1,500 a night Lion Sand private game resort in Mpumalanga for the past week.

The two have spent several days in the resort's private chalet, with its own private pool. They've been enjoying private game drives as well.

Oh, and they were flown by helicopter to a nearby town, White River, to buy some sunglasses after Michael's pair were damaged. And after the 15 minute helicopter ride, Michael and Goss spent the day shopping in town.

Local salesmen said that Michael spent a "sufficient amount of money" on three pairs of sunglasses and a pair of reading glasses for Kenny. In other words, they got ripped off.

He also spent hundreds of dollars at a local art gallery, River Glass, where the manager said all the items purchased were “slightly African inspired."

The pair were then taken back to the lodge, were security is tight and hotel guards asked locals not to mention his stay or take photos of him.

Even lodge rangers said they “couldn’t even get close to him. There were restrictions as to who can get close to him and who can’t.”

Just what every person needs after a drug bust, a nice vacation to celebrate getting off with no jail time.

George Michael has hurriedly left the U.K. in disgrace, following his most recent drug arrest this past weekend.

The singer and his longtime boyfriend, Kenny, were just seen leaving their London home with six large suitcases.

Could he be headed to rehab????

The Brits are such softies!

Pop star George Michael reportedly cried his way out of a drug conviction this past weekend, according to the UK's Sun.

After cops caught the troubled star with crack cocaine and pot while he was loitering for sex at a public restroom, he begged them not to hand him a conviction because it would 'kill' his career.

His new tangle with the law could get him barred from the U.S., where he has an AIDS benefit gig next month.

Georgie claimed his charity would lose £2million (about US$4 million) in ticket sales if he could not go.

A snitch told the paper, “He was very emotional. He kept saying, ‘Please, you’ll ruin my career’. His sob story worked – he escaped with a caution. He was even chauffeured home. He only got away with it because of his celebrity status.”

An ex-Scotland Yard official slammed the police's handling of the ex-Wham man's latest run in with the law. Says the former commander, “He should have been prosecuted. He’s clearly out of control. What does he have to do to be dealt with properly?”

Yeah!

What DOES it take to be 'dealt with properly' in the U.K.?

All the druggie Brit stars seem to run around above the law!

Naughty boy George Michael was busted for drug possession this weekend in London.

The drug-toting singer released this message for us all:

"I want to apologise to my fans for screwing up again, and to promise them I'll sort myself out. And to say sorry to everybody else, just for boring them."

Your multiple arrests are far from boring, George!

Here we go - one more time!

George Michael was arrested in London on Friday for possession of drugs. It's assumed that he was in possession of crack cocaine and pot at the time of the bust.

According to reports, a suspicious toilet attendant tipped off police after Georgie was seen loitering in a public bathroom area in the fancy Hampstead Heath section of London.

The BBC said that the singer was taken to a police station and given a 'caution' for possessing class A and class C drugs.

Just a caution?!

Lucky break, George.

As y'all know, this isn't the former Whamer's first run-in with the law.

In 1998, he was cited for lewd behavior in a Beverly Hills public bathroom.

Then in October 2006, he was found by Brit cops slumped over the wheel of his car (wonder what he was doing before the authorities found him).

AND THEN in 2007, his UK driver's license was taken away for 2 years because he was caught driving high on drugs.

Those Brits are really nice to druggies (ahem, ie. Dopehead, Winehouse).

Why don't they make George do community service or some sort of rehab?

Maybe George was running out of material for his book.
