Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole revealed that she wants to become successful in the United States.

The 36-year-old added that ideally she'd love to do it without constantly being compared to the Spice Girls.

Cole explained:

"I think any artist would like to break America. If you break there, you can break anywhere. It's a big, big deal and a lot different to us. I'd like the success of breaking in America, but we're not the Spice Girls - we're not musically like them, we don't look like them."

Work it, girl!

Nadine Coyle and fellow Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole are simultaneous working on their solo musical careers, but Nadine is taking it to the next level.

She has created mucho buzz as three top record labels are said to be in a bidding war to sign her.

"It looks like Universal - a subdivision of the Girls Aloud label Fascination - will produce Nadine's solo shot. But whoever wins her will have to pay a lot because everyone's desperate to sign her. She will get an amazing deal as a result of shopping around," claims a source.

The Irish singer is expected to begin work on her solo project later this year.

Phew!!

Although they are about to commence on a brief hiatus of at least 12 months, Girls Aloud have no intention of splitting up!!!

The ladies took to their official website to address break-up rumors and upcoming solo projects from members Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding.

They say:

"Hi everyone,

Hope you're all good and getting ready for summer.

We've decided to write this note together, because we want to set the record straight about what is happening in our world.

Over the next 12 months we are going to be involved in a lot of different things - music, TV, fashion and more. Sometimes it may be a solo project - sometimes just a couple of us and sometimes all five of us together.

We are definitely NOT splitting up. In fact we have all signed a new contract with Fascination/Polydor Records guaranteeing that we will release at least three Girls Aloud albums - minimum. We will definitely all be going into the studio next year to record - and there will definitely be a new GA album in 2010.

For the rest of the year - you'll have to wait and see, but it will be full of surprise - we promise!

Hard to have a group when one of your girls leaves you high and dry!

Is this the beginning of the end?

Sarah Harding shockingly announced this morning that she will be leaving Girls Aloud for a year to pursue an acting career.

She says: "Acting is good for me because I've always been called a drama queen."

No argument here.

With Sarah out of commission and Cheryl Cole judging X-Factor and Nadine Coyle working on a solo album, we don't see the Girls coming back from this.
