Looks as though the studio won!

We reported recently that both Michelle Williams and Hilary Swank were competing for The Wicked Witch of the East in Sam Raimi's upcoming prequel to The Wizard of Oz, called Oz, The Great and Powerful. The director had wanted Swank for the role, and Disney wanted Williams.

However, when Rachel Weisz was officially cast in the part, we thought perhaps they had met in the middle, but apparently, we were misinformed, as the other ladies were actually being considered for Glinda the Good Witch, and as of today, Williams has signed on to play her!

The film will focus on James Franco as a snake-oil salesman who is transported to Oz, and teams up with Glinda to fight her evil sisters, the other being played by Mila Kunis, which will ultimately lead to him becoming the 'Great and Powerful' wizard we all know from the original!

Inneresting! We think Michelle will make an EXCELLENT addition to the cast! She brings a lot of depth to every character she plays, so we're excited to see what she does with the part!

Last month, we were pleased to hear that both Hilary Swank and Michelle Williams were up for the role of the Wicked Witch of the East in Disney/Sam Raimi's upcoming film Oz: The Great and Powerful.

Both actresses seemed like great choices, but now we've learned that Rachel Weisz is currently in negotiations to play the role in the sort-of-prequel to The Wizard of Oz, which also stars James Franco as Oz, and Mila Kunis as the Wicked With of the West.

We could get behind Rachel for this role. She could DEF pull it off!

Such a great cast! We're getting increasingly excited for this one.

Sam Raimi is apparently at odds with Disney producers over the casting of the Wicked Witch of the East in his upcoming production of Oz: The Great and Powerful starring James Franco in the title role, as the former is determined to secure Hilary Swank and the studio wants Michelle Williams!

Meanwhile, Mila Kunis is widely expected to take the part of the Wicked Witch of the West!

Hot damn, this cast is going to be sick, regardless of which one is offered the East part!

Who do U think should get it? Hillary or Michelle?

This movie is going to wrap production, go into post, be completed and distributed into theaters nationwide, and for some reason will STILL probably find a way to continue adding people to its cast!

Ludacris is the latest to sign onto the never-ending New Year's Eve, which is currently shooting in New York!

The rapper will reportedly portray a policeman assigned to work with Hilary Swank's character, to set up the annual celebration in Times Square!

Given the 9,835,375 other actors scurrying around this one, we imagine that he'll probably have about 23 seconds of screentime. But hey - who knows?! Maybe he'll even get a line of dialogue!

That being said, if you're looking for anyone else to cameo, Garry Marshall, we'd be HAPPY to make an appearance! LOLz!
