Even though the first film bombed at the box office, it looks like the series isn't completely dead!
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which starred Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell-Bower, has found new life not as a film sequel, but as a television series!

Constantin Film, the ones who own the rights to the book series written by Cassandra Clare, have hired Ed Decter, who has worked on Helix, Unforgettable, In Plain Sight, and The Client List, as the showrunner!
Head of Constantin film and TV Martin Moszkowicz spoke out about how exciting the prospect of the show is. He said:
His last flick may not have been a huge hit, but Jamie Campbell-Bower still has his modeling career to fall back on.
The actor stars in the S/S 2014 campaign for Burberry alongside models Malaika Firth and Mathilda Lowther, in addition to Childhood lead singer Leo Dobson.
But how can we even focus on anyone else when JCB's piercing gaze is penetrating right into our soul???
And his ability to make a baby pink wool coat look good on a dude is admirable.
He's a prince!

As you may know, the Mortal Instruments second movie, City of Ashes, was almost axed due to it's under-performance at the box office!!
BUUUUUUUT, the film has been saved and this makes Jamie Campbell-Bower a very happy camper!

Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower will be back on the big screen soon in Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes, the sequel to City of Bones!
But the two Shadowhunters should be counting their blessings because this second installment almost didn't happen!
The film's production company shut the movie down after the first flick MAJORLY underperformed at the box office when it was released in August!
The YA action-packed love story, an adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s best-selling book series, only managed to rake in $31 million at the American box office!
And that's no good, considering the film reportedly had a budget of more than $60 MILL!
Nevertheless, film executive Martin Moszkowicz says they are still committed to making the sequel, and it all might be because of the response they received from fans! Martin explained:
Harry Potter fans can't stop talking about the brand new movie that will transport us all back to the world of witchcraft and wizardry!
But Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them takes place over 70 years before the events of J.K. Rowling's original series.
So could we see ANY of the characters return??
