One big happy sort of broken family.

This afternoon, Ashlee Simpson was spotted with her soon to be ex-husband, Pete Wentz, and their son, Bronx Mowgli, at L.A.'s Beverly Glen mall. Everyone was all smiles and neither Ash or Pete seemed eager to be out of the other one's hair. In fact, after the mall, the stopped off at Starbucks and were seen chatting each other up for quite some time.

So friendly! Maybe something can be worked out between you two? If not, we're proud of you for putting your differences aside, at least for your son.

It's a tough time for both Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz and obviously, the best way to work out their issues is to talk it out…with Ryan Seacrest.

Who better, right?

This morning, Pete was on Ryan's radio show to clear the air about his relationship with Ashlee. There are a lot of rumors flying around about the two, so we suppose Pete wanted to jump at the opportunity to be heard. However, Pete had only lovely things to say about his soon-to-be ex-wife. He told Ryan:

"Ashlee's been my best friend for five years. She's the mother of my child. I have nothing but love and respect for her…Going through something like this isn't easy, but we're friends and the most important thing is to put our son first."

Glad to hear you guys have your priorites in order.

Plus, who knows? Maybe you two will find a way to patch things up. But if not, remaining friends for your son's sake is what is most important.

First Justin Bieber, then Katherine Heigl, now… Pete Wentz!

Over the weekend, Petey shared his new "tamed mane" with his fans via his website.

Now that looks like a man who is ready to put himself back out there just like his wife did only a month after she filed for divorce! Right, Ashlee?

Not so fast!

Despite reports that Ashlee Simpson is already bouncing back from her upcoming divorce from Pete Wentz with his friend, musician Craig Owens, sources close to the singer have revealed that she is, in fact, still single!

The insider reveals:

"Craig is a longtime friend and was comforting Ashlee during this difficult time. She's not moving on. There's no race for a new relationship. They're friends. Ashlee and Pete's split is amicable and they're working together to make this as positive a situation for [2-year-old son] Bronx as possible. Right now her attention is on Bronx and some new work projects she has coming up. That's it."

Hmm…yes, we could believe that they're friends. Friends that bump nasties!

Who knows what is actually going on?!

Frankly, it doesn't matter to us, so long as Bronx is getting the attention and focus that he very much needs right now!

It's only been a month since Ashlee Simpson announced that she filed for a divorce from her husband Pete Wentz, but as we previously reported, she's already moved on to a new man.

Craig Owens is a musician, as we mentioned, previously of the band Chiodos before he was kicked out and currently of D.R.U.G.S. (Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows), who were just signed to Pete's record label. In between these two bands, Craig had A LOT of other musical ventures, including a solo project and assisting on some other band's albums, like Broadway and In Fear and Faith.

Outside of his musical interests, Craig likes to watch comedies on TV, like The Office and Eastbound and Down and deals with his manic depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety. Yeah, he's got some issues, but unlike some people who just hunker down in Sober Valley Lodge to Ustream their denial, Craig owns up to his problems and has been seeking help for years.

But the most important thing to know about Craig is that his biggest fan is none other than his mom Pete. Since last year, when Craig was signed to his label, he's done nothing but rave about him as a person and artist. Pete told MTV that Craig was his favorite up and coming performer and revealed he has some "amazing songs" in his arsenal.

We imagine Pete doesn't think he is so super-terrific these days…since he's smooching his wife for all the world to see!

Can't say we blame the guy! Hasn't he ever heard of "The Bro Code"?

Earlier today, we reported the scoop that Ashlee Simpson has moved on from her not-so-officially ended marriage and is dating Craig Owens, a friend and recording artist under Pete Wentz's record label. Sources close to Pete say that the news of his friend dating his estranged wife has left him "shocked," especially after all he's done for him.

The source close to Pete reveals:

"Pete did a lot for this guy. Craig was in another band and got kicked out. Pete found Craig, built a band around him and signed him. He's shocked at how this guy is repaying him."

For sure! They've only been separated a month. Nothing's even legal yet. It is WAY too soon for Craig to be swooping in on his woman, if even at all!

However, people in AshSim's camp say this relationship is really good for her right now and she needs Craig in her life for comfort. The source explains:

"Ashlee and Craig are longtime friends. They have spent some time together, and he is comforting her throughout this difficult time."

We're glad to hear Ash is reaching out to people in her time of need, but maybe she should have stuck with her sister or her other girlfriends. As if Pete's life isn't difficult enough, not he has to see his protege get some serious face time with his wife!

Not coo, bro. Seriously, not cool .

Phew! We were nervous there that things were going to turn ugly!

Reports surfaced yesterday that Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson were about to embark on a nasty custody and spousal support battle over their son, Bronx, but thankfully, sources close to the couple are claiming that the paperwork is not reflective of how the Fall Out Boy rocker truly feels!

The insider explains:

"Ashlee's family was really upset when they heard about the custody and support requests. And Pete felt really bad about it. He told Ashlee not to worry because he would be paying support. It doesn't seem like Pete was the one to make the decisions about support and custody, it sounds more like his lawyers were responsible for the move. He loves her and wishes they could stay married. They get along really well and have been so good about sharing time with Bronx. Pete is leaving to go on tour this week, and Ashlee's gone out of her way to make sure he can spend time with Bronx, they've already made a schedule that works for both of them. Pete made way more money than Ashlee did during their two year marriage, but that was because she was being a mom and not working, so he will definitely be supporting her."

Good to hear!

Although we would advise Pete to be very clear with his lawyers from now on about what exactly he is looking for in this divorce!

We're just happy to hear that they're both doing the right thing and making sure that their son's happiness is the number one priority during this whole mess! Keep it up, guys!

And it begins!

Although it looked like it might have been a peaceful separation for rock star Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson, all bets may be off as they start the custody battle for their 2-year-old son Bronx.

Ashlee reportedly filed for primary physical custody, but Pete is saying NO WAY and taking her to court for joint custody.

On top of that, Pete is not down to pay her legal fees either.

Despite Ashlee asking the court to make poor Pete pay for both sides, El Lay County Superior Court documents reveal he wants each party to pay their OWN legal fees.

We couldn't imagine the pain Pete would face if the custody of his child was yanked away, but paying for it to happen too? That's a little too much to ask.

We sincerely hope these two can be as amicable as possible and workout what is best for Bronx.
