'All My Children' Star Susan Lucci Reveals She Had Emergency Surgery For Major Heart Blockage!

Susan Lucci

What a close call for Susan Lucci!

The soap star tells the publication that she had been dealing with chronic pain in her chest, which got gradually worse until one day while shopping it “felt like an elephant pressing down on my chest.” Lucci reportedly knew something was off, and met her cardiologist at an ER to take a closer look at what was going on. Once her CT results came back, Susan immediately went into surgery!

The scan showed her aorta had 90 percent blockage, while another artery was blocked at 70 percent. This kind of severe blockage is reportedly referred to as a “widow maker” by doctors, because if blood gets 100 percent blocked at that critical location, it’s almost always fatal without emergency care.

The doctors told Susan she barely avoided a heart attack by coming in when she did.
Thank goodness she’s alright!
Lucci is taking action with her second chance at life. The actress is now teaming up with the American Heart Association to spread awareness of heart disease and getting testing.
Warning signs of a heart attack can be different for both men and women. The most common symptoms are chest discomfort, shortness of breath, discomfort in other areas of the body, and sometimes breaking out in a cold sweat or experiencing nausea. When in doubt, call 911 immediately if you feel any of the mentioned symptoms.
