Chanel Loses Counterfeit Lawsuit! Ordered To Pay $258,000!

chanel-ordered-to-pay-former-supplier-long-lawsuit.jpg

Remember when 61 year old seamstress and owner of World Tricot, Carmen Colle, sued Chanel for copying a crochet pattern?

Since this happened back in 2009, the answer is probably no, but we do!

Almost 3 years later, the Paris Court of Appeal ordered Chanel to fork over $258,400 to its former suppliers on Friday.

The fashion house hasn’t decided if it will appeal, but since Friday's ruling overturned a previous lawsuit, we wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Stay tuned…

Warner Bros' Hangover Continues! Louis Vuitton Files Appeal

round-2-louis-vuitton-sues-warner-bros-for-using-fake-louis-vuitton-in-hangover-2.jpg

Ugh.

We thought the legal battle between Louis Vuitton and Warner Bros. was over, but alas! we were wrong.

The French fashion house filed an appeal on Tuesday after their Hangover II "Lewis Vuitton" lawsuit was HIGHlariously shot down by a judge earlier this year.

Louis V originally asked for $580 million as well as the destruction of all copies of Hangover II (um, yeah right), and hope to get some sort of vindication against the Brothers Warner.

Good luck with that.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens in the battle of LV vs. WB Round 3!

Remember when Louboutin waved their beautiful finger at YSL over a red sole? They claimed YSL was stepping on their toes by coloring a sole red, one of Louboutin's trademarks.

But of course, a district judge found the whole ordeal to be a silly mess. His main judgements were

Louboutin Files An Appeal In The Case Of The Red Soles

Christian Louboutin is ready to give Yves Saint Laurent hell!

As promised, the shoes designer's lawyers filed an appeal on Monday to reverse the ruling made by Judge Victor Marrero, who denied Louboutin's injunction request against YSL.

The appeal basically states the judge made a mistake, saying Louboutin's

"trademark status has been conferred upon it by the consuming public…only public recognition can breathe life into another mark, whether it be a single color, several colors or another design element"

Once YSL files their papers, Team Louboutin expects a ruling sometime in the spring.

Louboutin Plans To "Fight Like Hell" Against YSL

christian-louboutin-appealing-ysl-injunction-ruling.jpg

Less than a week after a New York judge denied Christian Louboutin's request for an injunction against Yves Saint Laurent, the shoe designer is appealing the decision.

On Friday, Monsieur Louboutin's lawyer Harley Lewin filed an appeal to oppose YSL's move for summary judgment.

As of last week YSL said they were in the process of making the request for summary judgment because Judge Victor Marrero doesn't think Louboutin can prove why he needs a trademark on his shoes.

If granted, Louboutin's trademark could be canceled, which is why Lewin says his client plans to "fight like hell".

A hearing is scheduled for August 19th, so stay tuned.

Hermes Tries New Move To Block LVMH

These guys are tenacious!

On Thursday the French Market Authority will meet to discuss Hermes' request to be exempted from buying out minority shareholders.

The three families who own 70% of the company's shares argue that "they effectively control the company already", which keep LVMH from taking over.

However, if they are granted an exemption the French Association for Minority Shareholders will file an appeal because it would "unfairly penalize holders of the less than 10 percent of the company’s capital that is freely traded".
