Despite a judge tossing out David Beckham's $25 million lawsuit against In Touch Weekly and a Bosnian hooker early last year, the soccer player has filed an appeal!
A California federal court judge ruled that the article published in the gossip mag — based on the allegations from Irma Nici who said she had sex with David for $10,000 on several occasions — was not libelous because it was in the public interest.
Beckham and his legal peeps are refusing to accept that ruling. They have asked that the lawsuit against the company that owns the mag, Bauer Publishing, be re-instated because:
"Bauer did not produce critical documents or evidence related to its internet ‘research’ concerning Beckham. Notably, it never produced documents by which it claimed confirmed Beckham's whereabouts during the time periods in question. Bauer did not offer any information or evidence that would even suggest that it sought or received any corroborating from Nici, Davis, or the alleged prostitute, which would prove or disprove the veracity of the Article. Beckham was unable to seek or to confirm information as to why In Touch did not request any of this corroborating information."
They've got a good point. You can't just claim one of the world's most famous people cheated on his wife with a hooker and not present ALL of the information to back it up!
We'd hate to think that the most perfect man on the planet really did resort to paying for sex, but he's only human. An incredibly rich human who can toss around $10K like he's buying a candy bar.
Like all legal matters, however, we just hope the judge rules in favor of the person telling the truth!
