Idol Takes The Night! Ratings Are In!

Filed under: TV News > Etc. > American Idol

Idol Wins Weds Duh

Yeah yeah, nobody is surprised that American Idol topped the night last night in ratings!

The surprise comes from Mobbed, who's rating saw a spike — and ended up giving Fox the night's win.

Fox averaged a 4.5 among adults 18-49 which is about 14 million people. Idol grabbed a 6.0 in the demo, and the total viewers were up by 2 percent. Mobbed got a 3.0!

ABC was second with 8.4 million viewers, and leading the pack there was the brilliant Modern Family with a 5.5.

Then came CBS, which saw a dip in ratings — even with the ever popular CSI.

And then the CW… who somehow survives with shows getting 0.7 and 0.4 — not sure how that's working out, but they're trying.

Either way, Idol's Hollywood Week seems to be when people REALLY start watching!

Adele Vs. Van Halen: Billboard 200 Edition

adele vs van halen billboard 200 edition

It's on!

According to industry sources, both Van Halen's A Different Kind of Truth and Adele's 21 will be fighting for the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 next week!

We're hearing that the new Van Halen album is set to sell 180,000 to 200,000 copies, which SHOULD land it that top spot on the chart…but because of Adele's Grammy buzz, she could end up selling enough units to stay ahead of Eddie and co.

Also, Adele

Box-Office Round Up: Chronicle Topples DanRad, But Both Score Touchdowns!

chroincle-pfds__opt1.jpg

The Giants weren't the only winners this weekend! It was also a great few days for some thrills and chills at the box-office.

The bigger winner at the movies over the Super Bowl weekend was Chronicle, the flick about a bunch of superpower endowed teens from 20th Century Fox. The flick scored a stellar $22 million, far more than was originally anticipated.

Not that far behind was Daniel Radcliffe horror-thriller The Woman in Black with $21 million, which also overperformed by A LOT (but still not reaching the numbers DanRad saw in his Potter days.)

Regardless, as both flicks wrangled in the crowds, total box office revenues were up more than 35 percent over last year. We imagine that both FOX and CBS Films are quite pleased with themselves over this.

Totally worth shelling out for a mega star in one respect and totally worth scaring the crap out of New York in the other.

Filed under: TV News > American Idol

Big Bang Theory Beats Idol

Very popular nerds, but nerds nonetheless!

American Idol has been beaten in the ratings by Big Bang Theory for the SECOND week in a row!

Could it be that America is finally tired of watching people sing in front of three judges for a shot at fame and fortune?!

Nah, the popular singing competition still took in a total of 17 million viewers during its hour on Thursday night, but only had 15.46 million viewers while the CBS sitcom aired in competition to receive 15.96 million total viewers.

BBT scored a a 5.4 rating to beat the 4.8 rating of Idol‘s first half hour and managed to win the 18-34 demographic.

Who said being a nerd wasn't cool?
