Keeping Your Pets Safe For 4th Of July

Keeping Your Pets Safe For 4th Of July

To dogs, cats, and other animals, Independence Day might seem more like World War III than a summertime celebration. Noisy Fourth of July fireworks are frightening to animals, who don't realize that the explosions are entertainment, not danger.

PETA encourages everyone to take the following precautions to ensure the comfort and safety of their animal companions:

· Keep cats and dogs inside during fireworks displays, and if possible, stay with them.

· Leave your animals at home during the celebrations—never take them with you to watch fireworks displays!

· Never leave animals tethered or chained outside; they can hang themselves if they leap over a fence while trying to run from the noise.

· Close your windows and curtains. Turn on a radio that's tuned to a classical-music station, or turn on the TV to help drown out the sound of the fireworks.

· Make sure that your animal companion is wearing a collar or a harness with an up-to-date identification tag—just in case.

Kim Kardashian Celebrates Her Engagement With Mini Horses!

Kim kardahian and Kris Humphries

What says "I want to spend the rest of my life with you" more than a mini horse?

After accepting Kris Humphries' marriage proposal at her Beverly Hills home, and Kim new fiance celebrated their big news at a gathering that evening. It was an intimate family dinner full of smiles, food, fun and … glittery miniature horses?

"Kris really didn't want a big celebration, but he had jokingly told my mom he'd be fine if there were mini-horses there. Later that night at the party, my mom brought out two mini-horses, covered in glitter, for us! It was hysterical!"

The reality TV starlet says her mother arranged to have the ponies trot out just after a delicious princess cake was served for dessert. Kim was shocker her mom was able to pull it all off.

"I didn't understand how she ordered all this stuff without anyone figuring it out."

Kim, haven't you learned? When you have money you can do ANYTHING!

On that note, we wish Kim a happy life with her NBA star fiance!

The animated hound beat out the French Bulldog from Due Date and the German Shepherd and Beagle from Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore.

Spanish Festival Forces Horses To Jump Through Flames!!!

Filed under: Sad SadAnimal RightsHorsesAnimal Cruelty

festival of San Bartolome de Pinares

OMG, this is awful!

Every year on January 16th, residents of a small Spanish village celebrate the festival of San Bartolome de Pinares on the eve of Saint Anthony's day by riding horses around a race track surrounded by burning bonfires!

In some cases, as you can see above, riders even force their horses over the tops or THROUGH these flames.

Residents claim the controversial ritual brings on the blessings of Saint Anthony and the animals are sanctified or "liberated from all their ills."

What if their ills are, oh we don't know, a fear of fire?!

Residents say no one complains about the suffering of horses during the event and cite the hypocrisy of advocates who criticize the treatment of horses in San Bartolome de Pinares but do not criticize horse racing.

We don't particularly agree with horse racing either, but the sport is slightly more civilized since jockeys aren't forcing their horse through giant flames!

What do U think about this "celebration"?
