Giuliana Rancic Is 'Doing Well' After Breast Cancer Surgery

Bill and Giuliana Rancic

Such good news!

Giuliana Rancic is at home recovering after undergoing double lumpectomy surgery on Wednesday.

Her husband, Bill Rancic, went on the Today Show to share the good news that his wife is "doing well" and told the hosts:

“She's a trooper. She pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out. She's doing well at home and recovering."

The successful surgery came, however, after a VERY long and emotionally strenuous day for the couple, as Bill explained:

"It was kind of a long day. There's many steps in the process when you go through this. Because it was on both breasts, the morning started off with a two hour MRI where they had to put a guide wire in so the surgeon knew exactly what area to remove…Watching her being wheeled into that operating room was heartbreaking for me. I'm just doing everything I can to support her and make sure that she's comfortable and try to make her laugh as often as possible."

Hopefully more good news will follow too. Giuliana is expected back at the hospital on Friday for a check-up and then plans to be back at E! to resume working on Monday.

"We’re hoping that we get a good report tomorrow, God willing, then it’s radiation," Bill added. "We will kick off 2012 with a new outlook on life.”
