It happened a few years ago, but Jaime Pressly is ready to reveal a very scary health issue she went through.
The 37-year-old was on The Talk and had no qualms opening up about undergoing a mastectomy! She explained how she was diagnosed with mastitis, but she didn’t realize how serious her condition was at first.
The pain in her breasts began soon after she gave birth to her son.
Taking inspiration from Angelina Jolie, CNN's Zoraida Sambolin spoke up and announced that she too needed a mastectomy, and that she had just been diagnosed with breast cancer!
Here's what she originally announced:
"For a while I have been struggling because I was diagnosed with breast cancer about three weeks ago and I was trying to figure out how do I share this story, how do I tell the viewers that I'm going to be gone for a while, because I have chosen to have a double mastectomy. Angelina Jolie's story really hit home."
Now, after having had her mastectomy, we're getting a CNN update from Zoraida herself!
This is so fab — it sounds like she's really doing well, taking it all day-by-day! We can't even imagine having to go through this, but she's being such a badass about it!
In addition to turning heads and dropping jaws, the actress spoke out about her recovery and said she was humbled by all of the support she was getting and was glad her announcement had people talking about important health issues:
The Baywatch star hadn't talked too much about her diagnosis over the years, but now that things are taking a positive turn, she's ready to speak up about the disease, saying:
"I'm very fortunate that I've had Hep C for about 16 years. 16 years ago that was [presented to me] as a death sentence. I think it really worked on my self esteem. Even though I may have looked confident on the outside, I think it really was a dark cloud that lingered over me."
She's tried different medications in the past, but now Pam is moving on to a new process that's FDA-approved! These new drugs work to destroy the virus, and she says the outcome could be amazing!
