What's awful about this is that we actually like Kirstie Alley — but we will not stand for her getting in the way of people in need getting proper treatment.

We do our best around here to support people making decisions to believe or not in whatever religion they choose, so long as they're not ruining other peoples' lives in doing so. We would do that with Scientology too, but Scientology is wack! There's no way around it! LOLz!

Unfortunately, Kirstie Alley is a Scientologist, and has now started slamming antidepressant ad campaigns because scientologists strongly oppose the use of antidepressants and other drugs meant to treat psychiatric problems. For a religion with the word 'science' basically in the name, we can't help but shake our heads that they would argue against science at all.

Here's what Kirstie said:

If there’s ever a time to scream, it’s when you’re going through labor. But John Travolta's wife Kelly Preston did no such thing in her Scientology silent birth in November… or at least tried not to.

She explained the process:

"Silent birth is basically just no words as much as possible. If you need to moan, if you need to cry out … of course that's normal. But, it's just bringing them in, in as peaceful and gentle a way as possible."

Preston then tried to talk about WHY she would attempt to do this:

"Because L. Ron Hubbard found that the single source of aberration, of psychosomatic illnesses, stress, fears, worry, things like that, have to do with the reactive mind, and in that part of the mind is different words and commands that can come back to affect you later in your life. I'm blessed with, my kids have always been amazing, very calm, very peaceful, happy, and I absolutely know that it's very much because of that."

Amazingly, Kelly gave birth at age 48! We’re glad the baby is healthy!

Whoa — we would not want to be in that delivery room when Kelly Preston is trying not to scream while delivering a baby!

John Travolta and Kelly have decided to follow the Church of Scientology’s “silent birth” guidelines for the delivery of their new son, which means that when Kelly starts having contractions, she’s going to have to try to keep her mouth shut.

This is crazy!

The logic behind the silent birth is that babies should not be subjected to any kind of sensory discomfort or stress that could affect them in their future.

We’re not quite sure if that makes sense…

In any case, we wish Kelly good luck — she’s going to need it. John better shower her with gifts after she goes through labor, because it’s not going to be a fun experience for her, to say the least!
