Katy Perry's Team Is Reportedly NOT Happy With Spotify For Removing Her Songs!

no title

This will not rise stand!

Believe it or not, sworn enemies Katy Perry and Taylor Swift might have a new common enemy… and it ain't Kanye West!

Earlier this summer, K.P. released her surprise single Rise exclusively on Apple Music, and apparently the execs over at Spotify weren't too happy about it!

In fact, soon after the Apple deal kicked in, Katy Kat's songs reportedly started being removed from key Spotify playlists — a move that didn't sit too well with the pop star's team.

Apparently, sources at the streaming service say that the Hot N Cold singer's manager Martin Kirkup even freaked out on execs recently for downsizing the artist's playlist presence.

Although… we're hearing Kirkup's rant made little impact in the long run, with insiders deeming the manager as all roar and no bite.

Since we are talking about the two biggest dueling companies in streaming here (sorry, Tidal), we aren't surprised by Spotify's salty response after finding out Katy had been making side deals with Apple.

Either way, we think it should be noted that Taylor totally INVENTED feuding with Spotify… But who did it best?!

Per the report, Apple is interested in Tidal thanks to its enviable lineup of talent including Madonna, Kanye West, Rihanna, and Beyoncé. Given the impressive equity of the those stars and the other fifteen members, this could turn out to be a VERY profitable deal for Apple.

Despite a Tidal spokesperson telling WSJ that their people have yet to meet with Apple, rumors are running rampant about the possible merger.

Tech reporter Peter Kafka tweeted about the potential sale, explaining:

Nelly Furtado Reminds Us It's Time For Her Comeback By Dropping An Acoustic Cover Of Calvin Harris' Feel So Close!

no title

Nelly Furtado is back in the game!

It's been a decade since the pop singer dominated the radio with hits like Promiscuous and Maneater — but just like the bird that she is, Nelly could be flying back onto the radar any minute!

On Monday, the 37-year-old surprised fans by releasing a stripped-down acoustic cover of Calvin Harris's Feel So Close!

In a post on Facebook, the singer explained that the popularity of her live version of Calvin's hit, which she performed at a radio station back in 2012, made her want to record an official studio version!

Photo: Taylor Reportedly Called Calvin 'The One' In Hacked DM!

Nelly posted the intimate cover exclusively on Spotify, because "they are very artist friendly and compensate musicians well for their art." (Jay Z and Taylor Swift would disagree with you on that, girl.)

We really hope this means a Furtado comeback is underway. The singer has been working on her album since late 2014 — and with fellow ‘00s radio divas Gwen Stefani and Fergie gearing up for comebacks, the timing for Nelly couldn't be better!

What do U think of Nelly's cover? Ch-ch-check out her live cover (below) and take a listen to the official version HERE!

So Why Does Spotify Pay Its Artists So Poorly If The Average Employee Salary Is $168,747?!

no title

This is NOT music to our ears…

Remember how Taylor Swift, Adele, and a bunch of other artists removed their music from Spotify because the streaming service was paying its artists too poorly?

Well, as it turns out, while the musicians are suffering financially, Spotify's employees are living quite nicely thanks to an insanely high average salary — $168,747 a year, to be exact!

Video: T.Swift Tumbles On A Treadmill In Her Apple Music Commercial

The Stockholm-based company released its annual report this week, which indicated that since business began booming back in 2010, employee paychecks have increased 152 percent while Spotify itself has reportedly lost a staggering $188.7 million!!!

So this raises the question: if the people running the show are getting paid so handsomely, why are the people actually making the music making no money??

We guess Taylor was right all along…

Do U think Spotify should allocate more of its money to the artists??
