Kirstie Alley Sued Over Weight-Loss Product Scam

Filed under: Legal MattersKirstie AlleyDietsLosing it!

kirstie-alley-sued-wieght-loss-suplement.jpg

Kirstie Alley is in a bit of legal trouble.

We're not sure how legit the claim is, but a woman named Marina Abramyan is suing Kirstie for allegedly lying about losing 100 pounds using the diet supplement Organic Liaison.

She is arguing that Kirstie lost all her weight through a low-calorie diet mixed with all the exercise she got while on DWTS instead of just from taking the supplement.

She also claimed that the product doesn't work as advertised by QVC and Alley's testimonials.

We're not sure if she actually expected to be able to sit on her couch and take a supplement and lose 100 pounds.

We are pretty sure though that there's always fine print that says diet supplements only work along with "proper diet and exercise."

Kirstie hasn't responded to the allegations yet.

We really don't think Kirstie has much to worry about.

Would You Pay For Tap Water??

Probably not, right??

Well get this — there's a place in NYC called Molecule, and is known as The Water Cafe.

They serve tap water, which NYC is rated as having some of the nation's best, at $2.50 for a 16 ounce cup of it.

So what makes it worth that money if you could go into any apartment and get it?

They filter is down through a seven-stage filter system, and then you can add optional vitamin supplements. Ta-daaaa.

For an additional fee you can get a variety of vitamin blends, such as an immune blend and a hair and nail blend.

They even plan to start a delivery service.

Honestly, this sounds like the Pet Rock. There are rocks all around you, yet only one you BUY can be your pet.

What a waste of money, and what a lucrative business for people who exploit people not smart enough to see it.

Choosing The Right Supplements Before A Boxing Workout

Alex Brenes pci

FitPerez reader Georgie is looking for boxing nutrition tips and wrote expert Alex Brenes for advice, asking:

Hi Alex,

What is a good supplement? I would like something before my workout. Thanks!

According to Alex, you may not even need any supplements, as he explains:

Georgie, that's not exactly my field. Most fighters stay away from those things. Supplements and such should be taken about an hour-and-a-half before a workout. Something rich in carbohydrates and calories will make you feel ready. Remember, natural is always better!!!

Study Does Not Recommend Older Women Take Vitamins

It's not an uncommon belief that taking a daily vitamin or multivitamin can be a preventative measure to avoid life threatening illnesses in the future.

However, a new study has found that as women get older, vitamins may do more harm than good!

To come to their conclusions, researchers followed a group of 38,772 women in their 60s in Iowa for about 20 years and found the use of multivitamins was associated with an absolute risk increase of 2.4%.

Based on the increase in rate of mortality, the study published in this week's Archives of Internal Medicine could not recommend the use of vitamin and mineral supplements for preventative purposes, as the authors concluded:
