Uh-oh! This is not good!
Joe Francis, who created the Girls Gone Wild series, has slapped Madonna with a cease-and-desist letter over the usage of his franchise name as a title of one her new songs on MDNA, and is threatening legal action if she does not comply to certain terms!
According to the letter, which asserts that the pop icon is trying to get a “free ride on the valuable consumer goodwill and brand recognition” of the Girls Gone Wild trademark, she must negotiate a licensing agreement for it usage, holding accountable the number of times she’s already used it, and she must not perform the song during the Super Bowl halftime show!
What?! That last part seems seriously ridiculous!
Apparently, Madge has to answer by 5pm PST today before legal action is taken.
