After many years, many meetings, and many salary compromises, Anchorman 2 is FINALLY in the process of becoming a reality.
Although Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are just starting to write the script now, the latter revealed some inneresting details about the film’s story in a recent interview and said:
“We have a basic idea. I├óΓé¼Γäóll tell you we├óΓé¼Γäóre staying roughly period, and I would just say it├óΓé¼Γäós the next stage in the development of American media and news. The fun of these characters is they confront change very poorly. [laughs] So they├óΓé¼Γäóve got some more change coming their way. I can say that pretty safely.”
Change? We all know what happened last time Ron Burgandy and the Channel 4 Evening News team encountered change — HIGHarity ensued! Therefore, we can not WAIT to see what kind of changes they’ll be facing this time.
And yes, McKay confirmed that Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, and Vince Vaughn are “all in.” As for Christina Applegate‘s Veronica Corningstone? McKay admits she’s “expendable,” much like the women in the Austin Powers franchise, but then revealed:
“We have an idea for her that we think is pretty cool. So tentatively right now she├óΓé¼Γäós in. But obviously we kind of have to let it be what it├óΓé¼Γäós gonna be, we don├óΓé¼Γäót want to handcuff ourselves, but we love Applegate, so any chance to work with her is always fun. So, yeah, that├óΓé¼Γäós it. The last couple weeks we├óΓé¼Γäóve been sitting down and banging out the story and putting it together.”
This is all awesome news and we’re looking forward to seeing the final product. Do U think it will top the first Anchorman?
