We wouldn’t have thought of it ourselves, but Jerry O’Connell might just be a fantastic Herman Munster.
The actor has been cast in the role originally made famous by Fred Gwynne in the classic television sitcom about a family of monsters trying to live a normal life in suburbia.
Bryan Singer and Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller are working on the 1-hour pilot, which will be called Mockingbird Lane.
Unlike the light-hearted sitcom that aired 70 episodes in the 60s, the reboot will reportedly be an “edgier” and “darker” dramatic interpretation that explores the origins of Herman and his wife Lily.
O’Connell is no stranger to comedy, so we hope he’s able to take advantage of his charming personality, but it’s pretty cool to hear that they are taking the premise into a completely new direction.
Wouldn’t it be cool if Rebecca Romijn starred as Mrs. Munster!? Think about it, Singer!
Meanwhile, Eddie Izzard has been cast as Grandpa Munster with child actor Mason Cook starring as the family’s werewolf son, Eddie.
