Foods And Aging: Which To Eat To Slow The Process??

Margaux J. pic
Nobody really wants to look and get older, and luckily as we progress through time there are more and more (sometimes wacky) methods and scientific treatments to help!
Sometimes it isn’t enough just to do one thing, though, and you should combine the effects of multiple courses to really give aging a kick to the down-belows!
And that’s exactly where this Fitperezcious reader comes in:

“Two months ago I celebrated my 40th birthday. That’s all fine and dandy but I am not exactly excited about this whole aging process. I use a lot of lotions and creams to help with wrinkle prevention but I was wondering if there are foods to help me out also? I think I heard somewhere that antioxidants are good for aging. Thanks for your help!”

Fabulous question! Glad we have Margaux J. Rathbun on call for such things!

“Yes, antioxidants help with the aging process in addition to helping us stay healthy and energized. Try eating antioxidant-rich foods like apples, blueberries, oranges, raspberries, and almonds. Add some spirulina and chia seeds to your morning smoothies and juices for an extra boost. You can also drink some teas that contain these free-radical fighting antioxidants. Try brewing peppermint, oregano, lemon balm, and sage tea. Include lots of delicious and healthy leafy greens into your diet from foods like kale, Swiss chard, collard greens, and spinach. Just make sure that if you are cooking these greens that you aren’t over steaming them; do it for about five minutes of until the leaves turn bright green. If you cook them for too long you will destroy the nutrients.

Thanks for the info, Marg! As always, we appreciate it!
