We’re sure the market for petrified cats isn’t huge but it did just lose one of its biggest retailers.
Obscura Antiques & Oddities, the store from the Science Cahnnel’s reality show Oddities, is no longer buying petrified and mummified cats.
After the show began to gain popularity, people started trying to sell all their old, weird antiques to the store.
They were apparently flooded with requests to buy petrified cats from people.
They said:
“We’ve been overwhelmed by calls from people wanting to sell petrified cats and mummified squirrels that they find in their attic. We’re out of the market now, for the most part.”
Though if the right cat mummy comes along they might change their mind, but it’d have to be a quality specimen.
“For me, the choice to buy a petrified cat comes down to aesthetics. Most are dried out and decayed.”
So unless you have a perfectly preserved pussy, don’t try and sell it to Obscura!
