Bat Has Tongue Longer Than Its Body!

This shiz is cray-cray! The tube-lipped nectar bat is truly a magnificent creature!
What makes this particular type of bat (found in Ecuador) extra special?
It has a tongue longer than it’s body!
The 2.5 inch bat has a 3.5 inch tongue. To put this into perspective, a six foot tall man would have a NINE foot longue tongue!
The bat uses its tongue to get the nectar from the plant Centropogon nigricans. It turns out, that since the plant is so long, it relies solely on the bat to pollenate it.
