One of Scientology’s most famous followers, Leah Remini, is breaking her silence following her decision to leave the Church!
After word spread of her renouncement yesterday, Leah received A TON of support and encouragement, that she now says is helping her get through this difficult time. Leah thanked her well-wishers in a statement, saying:
“I wish to share my sincere and heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming positive response I have received from the media, my colleagues, and from fans around the world. I am truly grateful and thankful for all your support.”
As an active member of the Church since the ’80s, Leah finally decided to turn her back on Scientology because of the religion’s controversial practices.
She joins Katie Holmes and Crash director Paul Haggis as former Church of Scientology believers. In 2011, Haggis spoke out against the religion, saying:
“I was in a cult for thirty-four years. Everyone else could see it. I don’t know why I couldn’t.”
