Jesse Eisenberg Will Officially Play Lex Luthor To Henry Cavill's Superman! Plus, You'll Never Guess Who Zack Snyder Picked To Play Alfred!

When you’ve got a hunk of a Man Of Steel like Henry Cavill to contend with, you need one tough villain! Like, say, Jesse Eisenberg!

Yep! The Social Network star has officially been announced as Superman’s archenemy Lex Luthor in Batman VS. Superman!
Like Batffleck, it’s certainly a bold choice! Not convinced it’s a good one? Let director Zack Snyder give it a shot. He says:

“Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman├óΓé¼Γäós rivals, his unsavory reputation preceding him since 1940. What├óΓé¼Γäós great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He├óΓé¼Γäós a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”

We’re actually kind of digging it! Like, sounds like Mark Zuckerberg, only a super villain. Kind of like… Mark Zuckerberg. JK!
But that’s not the only casting news! Batman’s trusted butler Alfred will be played by veteran actor Jeremy Irons! Snyder says:

“As everyone knows, Alfred is Bruce Wayne├óΓé¼Γäós most trusted friend, ally and mentor, a noble guardian and father figure. He is an absolutely critical element in the intricate infrastructure that allows Bruce Wayne to transform himself into Batman. It is an honor to have such an amazingly seasoned and gifted actor as Jeremy taking on the important role of the man who mentors and guides the guarded and nearly impervious fa├â┬ºade that encapsulates Bruce Wayne.”

Hmm, we don’t know. A British Oscar-winner with an iconic voice for Alfred? When has that casting ever worked out? LOLz!
