Shailene Woodley is truly turning into one badass female!
Instead of attaching herself to the trendy word “feminism” like most of today’s young actresses, the Divergent star is actually distancing herself from it—and for good reason!
In a new Times article released Monday, Shailene reveals that she doesn’t consider herself a feminist, in part, because she looooves men!
The Fault In Our Stars cutie revealed that there needs to be a balance of power for unity and success:
“I think the idea of ├óΓé¼╦£raise women to power, take the men away from the power├óΓé¼Γäó is never going to work out because you need balance. With myself, I├óΓé¼Γäóm very in touch with my masculine side. And I├óΓé¼Γäóm 50 percent feminine and 50 percent masculine, same as I think a lot of us are. Also I think that if men went down and women rose to power, that wouldn├óΓé¼Γäót work either. We have to have a fine balance.”
And just because she doesn’t like the F—word doesn’t mean she can’t appreciate and preach to the ladies! Shai believes that women should support each other and band together, as opposed to fighting for power:
“My biggest thing is really sisterhood more than feminism. I don├óΓé¼Γäót know how we as women expect men to respect us because we don├óΓé¼Γäót even seem to respect each other. There├óΓé¼Γäós so much jealousy, so much comparison and envy. And ‘This girl did this to me and that girl did that to me.’ And it├óΓé¼Γäós just so silly and heartbreaking in a way.”
You hear that girls?? Maybe this Emmy-nominated actress has a point!
For the most part, she’s chosen strong female roles that kick stereotypes in the face, so she’s leading the charge for a great example…
