The Lyon brothers are here to heat up the summer!
Empire‘s Bryshere “Yazz” Gray, Trai Byers, and Jussie Smollett scored the cover of Essence magazine’s June issue — and let’s just say, it’s frame-able!
The three on-screen brothers pose for the front page in all white looks, but it’s uh, all the skin that abs-olutely has all our attention here.

That is, until you open the glossy for the feature!
While the boys didn’t spill any deets about Season 2, the usually-private Jussie did share a lot! Seeming very grateful for the effect the show could have on anyone considering to come out of the closet, he confessed:
“If I can help someone else feel less alone, no matter what they’re going through, I’m happy to have that opportunity.”
He really is an inspiration, especially after so bravely opening up about his sexuality with Ellen DeGeneres back in March.
But as for the outcom? Jussie revealed:
“The sun rose the next day, the clouds were out and I was still able to go to Whole Foods. And my mother said, ‘Hey, baby,’ like she always does. Nothing changed.”
Yas! And that’s exactly how it should be.
