When a 14-year-old opened fire at Townville Elementary School in South Carolina last week, one teacher and two young students were seriously injured.
We were sad to hear over the weekend that 6-year-old Jacob Hall had passed away from his injuries.
On Wednesday, Jacob’s family and friends said goodbye in a memorial themed with what Jacob loved best: superheroes.

Adult and child mourners came dressed as Superman, Wonder Woman, Captain America, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, and more.
Jacob himself was dressed in a Batman outfit in his blue coffin.
On the unorthodox service, Jacob’s great aunt Rebecca Hunnicutt explained:
“We want to honor Jacob, celebrate Jacob, in a way he would love.”
His mother, Renae Hall, told WYFF:
“He loved anything to do with being able to help somebody. That’s why I say Jacob was going to make a difference and he still is going to make a difference.”
One mourner was the Huntington, West Virginia Batman, John Buckland, who regularly visits children’s hospitals and charities around the country in his Batmobile.
