You didn’t think TV could get any darker after shows like Dexter, True Blood and American Horror Story? Think again!
Alan Ball, creator of one of the most beloved vampire dramas on TV, is set on a new team on a new project for HBO, marking his third collaboration with the network. However, this show will take Alan to depths he hasn’t gone before as the project deals with the moral, religious, political and ethical dilemmas facing an abortion doctor.
Wichita will be an hourlong drama that follows the career of the late Dr. George Tiller of Kansas, one of the few doctors who provided late-term abortions in the field and in his time. The doc came under fire for his practices – literally – narrowly escaping one assassination attempt in 1993, but then later meeting his end by anti-abortion activist Scott Roeder in 2009 who shot him in the eye.
Yeesh! A brutal end to a brutal situation.
We’ll admit though, the synopsis has piqued our interest. It’s definitely going to be one of those shows that has people talking.
