In a recent interview, The Tempest star Alan Cumming has revealed that he believes his passion for acting came from his two childhood West Highland terriers, Kerry and Shona.
Growing up with a physically and emotionally abusive father on Scotland’s Panmure Estate, Cumming found an escape while playing with his two canine companions, saying:
“I’d just go into the forest and walk with the dogs, make up stories. I think that’s how I became an actor.”
Not only did they inspire his imagination, but his lifelong love for dogs as he now keeps a ten-year-old collie-shepherd mix Honey and Chihuahua Leon by his side.
