Bad news for Alix Earle fans!
On Wednesday, the social media personality announced she has to pause her Hot Mess podcast for now. Whoa! Why?!

Alix “can’t” say right now! All she can tell her followers is that she is unable to continue the show. However, as she explains in a video posted to TikTok, they can keep up with her life another way moving forward:
“I have to put a pause on podcasting right now for the foreseeable future. Don’t really want to get into the details of it all, and I kind of can’t get into the details of it all right now, but I’ve loved it so much, and I’m really proud of what I built with the podcast. I don’t want to just leave you astray and not leave you with anything. I also think I would lose my mind. So, good news is I’m gonna be putting out weekly vlogs for the foreseeable future.”
@alixearle our first vlog is out now and linked in my bio ????♥️ love u guys so excited
Despite the vlog compromise, fans are naturally upset! They want to know why their fave podcast is on pause! And the only explanation they can come up with right now? Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper is to blame!
You see, Alex’s company, Unwell Network, dropped the 24-year-old’s podcast last month. They even relinquished the rights to the show so Alix could explore other opportunities if she chose. The move came as a surprise to the TikToker but not to fans! They picked up on the tension between the two hosts/former besties a while ago. They seemed to be good friends when Alix signed onto the Unwell Network in August 2023. However, a noticeable shift happened over the past few months, starting with the network no longer promoting the Hot Mess podcast on social media as much. Then Alix didn’t show up to an Unwell party for the Super Bowl – despite being in New Orleans. Her father, Thomas “TJ” Earle, complained about dealing with “a business situation” he “wasn’t happy” about, which many believed was about Alex!
Us Weekly sources confirmed the two women had “a lot of drama” and “clashed over business,” and it destroyed their friendship. TJ also “got more involved in her business decisions” and believed Alix joining the network wasn’t a “smart business move” in the end.
All around, things are unwell between Alix and Alex! However, Cooper gave up the rights to Hot Mess, so why would she be to blame for the podcast being put on pause right now? Fans aren’t convinced the podcaster actually followed through on her promise! See the theories they came up with in Earle’s comments section (below):
“Alex Cooper acting a lot like Scooter Braun rn”
“ALIX ARE YOU BEING SILENT OR SILENCED???????”
“I swear if Alex cooper isn’t giving you the IP of Hot Mess after she made a huge stir over owning the IP of Call Her Daddy then I’m done supporting her brands”
“What did Alex Cooper do”
“Thanks a lot Alex Cooper”
“I think it is CRAZY WORK that Alex cooper made such a HUGE stir over owning the IP of CHD but wont give you the IP of hot mess.”
“Alex Cooper did this. Hope you win it back and come back stronger. She should just let it go instead of thinking she is the only person who can do a pod cast”
“Cooper did this
come back soon”
Jeez…
Don’t get carried away, Hot Mess fans! Cooper has set the record straight — Alix Earle DOES own her IP! She took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday to acknowledge the comments about the situation, clapping back:
“Hi I see ur comments. Alix not being able to podcast has nothing to do with Unwell. Idk why she can’t/what’s going on. Unwell gave her everything back she owns her IP.”
Referencing what happened when she moved Call Her Daddy from Barstool Sports to Spotify in 2021 and tagging founder Dave Portnoy, she added:
“Learned from the best.”

If Alex isn’t the reason Hot Mess is on a hiatus now, then what the heck is going on? Alix makes it sound like there’s some trouble behind the scenes — something that could involve the feud drama! However, Alex swears she is not involved in anything! So what gives? Alix has not clarified yet. We doubt she will anytime soon either, but here’s another theory to throw out…
Perhaps she’s rebranding??
As we previously reported, her business, AAE Holding Company, Inc., filed trademarks for “Earle Girls” and “Gearles” in November 2024. She hosts the Hot Mess podcast with her sister, Ashtin Earle, so they may have decided to change the name to reflect that. Both trademarks were still pending earlier this month. So, Alix may have wanted to take a break from the show to get that sorted out and work on new merch and other things. Especially now that she’s not part of the Unwell Network, a change in name, look, and content for the podcast may not be a bad thing! Or she’ll ditch the show entirely and stick with vlogs! We’ll see!
What do YOU think, Perezcious readers? Do you buy that Alex Cooper had nothing to do with Hot Mess being on pause? Do you believe something else is going on, like a rebrand? Let us know in the comments below!
