John Mulaney must be feeling relieved right now!
Earlier this month, Anna Marie Tendler announced on social media she’s releasing a memoir called Men Have Called Her Crazy. What can fans expect from the book? She said it’s all “about the endless source of my heartbreak and rage — men.” Whoa. See the announcement post (below):
Talk about an ominous tease that will have the men in her life quaking in their boots! Especially John Mulaney, right? She and the comedian were married for SIX YEARS before the scandalous and abrupt end in 2021…

John asked Anna Marie for a divorce — right after she helped him get through a 60-day stint in rehab following a drug relapse. Of course, the 38-year-old artist shared that she was “heartbroken” by the split at the time. She even revealed in an essay for Elle last year that she experienced “severe suicidal ideation” during the difficult process. The breakup became even more painful when he very, very quickly moved on with Olivia Munn, and they welcomed their first child together that same year. And it turned out the Predator star had been pining for him for quite some time during his marriage! Oof.
With all of this in mind, one would think Mulaney is a big part of her memoir. The focus, even! It’s certainly what we expected when she announced it! However, a source has come forward to say otherwise!
An insider who has read her manuscript told Page Six on Sunday that the Saturday Night Live alum is not mentioned or even alluded to in the book — not even ONCE! Instead, Anna Marie talks about a different ex! They said:
“He’s not in it, nor is he even alluded to. She talks about the relationship prior to John.”
What?!?
Again, you would think Mulaney would be a prominent piece in a book about her life — considering they were married for six years and went through a tumultuous split! We mean, wasn’t he a source of “heartbreak and rage”?? If anything, you’d expect at least a chapter about the situation in order to get more book sales!
But she wasn’t interested, apparently! As for the teaser she posted, the insider thought it was “quite clever,” adding:
“The assumption is that it’s about John but he’s not in it!”
Wow. Sorry, everyone! If you were hoping for some juicy details from Anna Marie about John, you aren’t getting it! Not from this book at least!
We are floored. The only thing we have to wonder is… Is this all a big statement? Is she telling Mulaney he isn’t even worth writing about? Like he’s a blip? A six-year NOTHING? The way he did to her by dropping her for Olivia Munn?? Hmm…
