Everyone was shocked when Anne Hathaway didn’t wear Valentino to the Oscars on Sunday, and now we know why!
The Best Supporting Actress winner was all set to wear an ivory-colored high-neck gown from the S/S 2013 couture collection (above, center), which the fashion house confirmed in a press email, only to change her mind three hours before walking down the red carpet.
So what gives?
At some point during the afternoon, Hathaway found out that Amanda Seyfried‘s Alexander McQueen gown looked too similar to hers and she was not having it!
No one was going to overshadow the biggest day of her professional career!
As we all know by now, Annie settled on the underwhelming pale pink Prada number, which she later said “spoke to her”.
Umm, more like screamed “pick me if you don’t want to be compared to Amanda!”
We can’t say we totally blame Anne for pulling the switcheroo. No one wants a fashion faux pas to overshadow their big win!
