EXCLUSIVE! Ashley Graham On Being The New Face -- And Body -- Of The Fashion Industry!

no title
Ashley Graham has embraced her curves, and now she’s making the fashion world do the same!
The beauty will presenting the Ashley Graham Lingerie Collection for Addition Elle at KIA STYLE360 tomorrow — the only plus-size fashion show during New York Fashion Week (she’s modeling the Modern Boudoir set above).
Ashley shared her excitement with us EXCLUSIVELY ahead of the show:

“It’s so exciting to be one of the leaders in the body positivity movement. I take my role as a body activist very seriously and truly want to help create change that is long overdue. I love co-designing and modeling my lingerie collection with Addition Elle, and look forward to many more collections to come.”

While the change may be overdue, the 27-year-old hopes she and others can spur it along:

“I do believe that things are changing — we’re not where we need to be yet — but we’re definitely making great progress. With every new campaign, collection, runway show, magazine cover, and more, we’re showing that women’s curves are beautiful and need to be represented.”

Still, there are haters out there, like YouTuber Nicole Arbour, who recently came under fire (and lost a job) with her “Dear Fat People” upload. Ashley says the vile video did have one silver lining:

“I did see the video, and I think it’s disgusting and ignorant. While ridiculous, it did give my fellow curvy women an opportunity to speak out and stand up for their bodies!”

Finally, she reveals what advice she would give her younger self… words that any young girl should heed:

“I’d remind myself that there is no such thing as the perfect body and that beauty is not once size fits all. I was told to look at Marilyn Monroe as a role model because she was one of the only curvy female icons, which shouldn’t be the case. When I speak to young girls, I always tell them to find a positive role model who they can relate to that’s not necessarily a celebrity, but someone who promotes self-worth and confidence.”

We can’t wait to see Ashley slay the runway!
