Avicii was so unstable in the final hours of his life, his family attempted to travel to his side before it was too late.
A new report claims that the EDM icon’s family knew about his mental state before he apparently committed suicide, and became so alarmed after a troubling phone call with the star, real name Tim Bergling, that one relative flew to Oman in hopes of preventing the artist from ending his own life.

A source explained to Swedish website Stoppa Pressarna:
“The family was aware that Tim felt bad. It went up and down, but when he was in Oman, it became worse. When they talked to Tim on the phone they became worried. The family realized that it was really bad and that one had to act.”
One of Bergling’s relatives immediately got on a flight to the Middle East following the phone call, the insider added — but sadly, it was too late.
Just two hours before the plane touched down in Oman, the Wake Me Up artist had allegedly taken his own life. The source continued:
“It’s terrible for the family, an unusual sense of powerlessness and frustration that Tim left them in such young years├óΓé¼┬ª It’s a big tragedy. He was really a great guy.”
News of this final phone call comes after reports claimed the DJ died by self-inflicted wounds, allegedly using shards of a wine bottle.
Bergling’s parents, Anki Lid├â┬⌐n and Klas Bergling, had alluded to their son committing suicide in an earlier statement — but learning that they were possibly so close to saving his life makes Avicii’s death all the more heartbreaking.
