Britney Spears’ child support payments to ex-husband Kevin Federline are finally coming to an end! For real this time!
As Perezcious readers will recall, reports dropped two months ago claiming the pop star no longer had to shell out thousands each month to the former backup dancer when her youngest son, Jayden James, turned 18 on September 12. However, it turned out she was not off the hook quite yet! You see, a source told TMZ Britney and K-Fed agreed in the divorce that child support payments would stop either on their kid’s 18th birthday or when he graduates high school — whichever happens later.

Jayden had not finished high school yet, so Britney had to continue to pay child support even after his 18th birthday — but not for much longer! The outlet reported he graduated in November, so she just had to pay $20,000 for October and November, and then she was done! She also had to pay Kevin a good amount for unknown fixed expenses. Why? During this time, the pair almost got into some legal drama. Britney handed over just $20,000 a month in the beginning. However, in 2018, the payment increased to $40,000 a month because Kevin said he had Jayden and Sean Preston 100% of the time and had additional expenses due to their age.
Sorry, it’s already 20k a month and that wasn’t enough?? Jeez, that’s more than most single parents in this country raise their kids on!
After paying that amount for years, though, the Toxic artist cut the payments in half without telling his team for some reason. Well, Kevin was unhappy with her abrupt decision! That resulted in his people threatening to take the issue to court, where they argued a judge would give him way more than half the child support they agreed on due to those expenses. Ultimately, they agreed to the $20,000 a month and the additional amount for those extra costs. In the end, if our math is right, she will have paid K-Fed well over $4 MILLION in child support! Wow.
Now she’s almost done making those payments though! Insiders with direct knowledge told TMZ on Tuesday that the singer is only three days away from having to write out a check to Kevin — on November 15, to be exact! The outlet reported Britney has been making bi-monthly payments to the One Tree Hill alum, $10,000 at the beginning of November and the final one coming on Friday.
This must be such a relief for Brit! Kevin, on the other hand? We can imagine he’s feeling a tad annoyed he will no longer see all that money each month! But it had to come to an end eventually! What’s more? It’s ending at a time when she has reconnected with Jayden after their years-long estrangement!
