Oh man. Nothing but absolute GREATNESS can come from this!
Especially if it’s taking the direction we THINK it will go!
Britney Spears has spent the majority of 2012 putting her music career on the backburner while participating on the judges panel this season on X Factor, but for those of you who are anxious for the princess of pop to reclaim her rightful throne, we have some EXCELLENT news!
She’s beginning work on her EIGHTH studio album…and while it’s a follow-up to 2011’s Femme Fatale, this new effort may be more sonically reminiscent of 2007’s EPIC Blackout!
Apparently, the singer has already teamed with Grammy-award winning writer Elijah Blake, the man responsible for Rihanna‘s No Love Allowed and Climax by Usher, who says:
“I think her fans will be surprised by it. I would say it’s definitely the ‘unexpected’ Britney in so many ways, in that she’s playing with new textures and stomping on new grounds and genres.”
He later took to Twitter to confirm:
@zankou_212 I’ve definitely had the pleasure of starting on something I think is going to be big with her

Which leads us back to recall a VERY inneresting, and possibly VERY TELLING Tweet from Miz Spears back in October, on the anniversary of Blackout‘s original release date:
I heard Happy Birthday Blackout was trending earlier… thank u all for loving the album as much as I do. Blackout 2.0?

YES! YES! YES!
Seeing as that album has been widely regarded as paving the way for pop music as we know it today, we have a feeling that she’s once again ready to re-define her aesthetic on this new project!
And we don’t know about you, but we are MORE than ready to hear what she comes up with!
SUCH EXCITING NEWS, gurl!
Here’s hoping it comes sooner rather than later!
Scream & Shout will only hold us over for so long!
