Your feline’s aging process just got a bit more inneresting…
Japanese scientists have studied wild cats and found that they have the same proteins in their brains as humans with Alzheimer’s disease.
So your old cranky cat that wanders around aimlessly could actually be stricken with the mental health disease.
While it is not certain how these proteins affect live cats, a link could be made between dementia and the proteins.
A study by the University of California Davis shows that roughly a third of dogs 11 to 12 years suffer from cognitive impairment, compared to 28 percent for cats.
A healthy diet, stimulation and companionship are good ways to keep your pet mentally active!
