Channing Tatum is in mourning.
The 38-year-old actor posted to his Instagram account late Thursday night to mourn the death of Corey Vaughan, who apparently was Tatum’s first best friend when the future star was a child growing up in Mississippi.

In an emotional message that Tatum shared along with an old picture of him and Vaughan playing youth football, the actor bared his emotions in a very raw way (below):

Wow — tough to come to terms with mortality when a close childhood friend dies far too soon. Very, very sad.
Our thoughts are with Tatum, Vaughan’s family, and the rest affected by Corey’s loss.
