Now that Guardians Of The Galaxy is such a smash and Jurassic World is sharing seksi stills, Chris Pratt has officially broken through as a movie star and a bona fide leading man.
But it wasn’t an easy road to get here!
More than once Chris was probably beating himself up after trying out for what seemed like a huge part- and failing.
Chris says if there was a big part in a major movie, he auditioned for it. We don’t know how many that is, but here are five BIG ones that Andy Dwyer missed out on:
Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek

We LOVE Chris flying a ship, but the ragtag group he leads in Guardians seems more apt than a Federation crew. He lost this one to Chris Pine due to lack of star power.
Duke in G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra

Channing Tatum was also just getting his movie career started when he played Duke. But producers thought he looked far more like an action figure.
Sam Flynn in Tron: Legacy

OK, this one must have seemed huge at the time. Opposite Olivia Wilde and Jeff Bridges in a sequel to a huge Disney hit?
Garrett Hedlund starred in the final product, which wasn’t nearly as well-received as GotG.
Chuck in Chuck

Chris even tried out for TV, but for this particular role he was told he didn’t seem nerdy enough. Hmm, he IS pretty darn charming… But then again so is Zachary Levi.
Jake Sully in Avatar

If Chris had won this role from Sam Worthington, he’s be locked into a 4-picture deal right now. Would he still be able to play the lead in Guardians?
Oh wait, Zoe Saldana is doing both. We guess it could have worked! LOLz!
