Officials Report New Details Surrounding Country Singer Craig Strickland's Death

Craig Strickland
More details on the tragic death of musician Craig Strickland.
On Monday, the 29-year-old was found deceased after a seven day search following a fatal hunting trip with pal Chase Morland, who was also found dead last week. Strickland’s wife Helen has been updating fans via social media as the unfortunate situation progressed.
In one post, Helen said that officials found Craig’s body “lying in the shape of a cross looking up to his Father.”

In a new report on Tuesday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement Division revealed the singer’s body was found around 11:35 a.m. by an OHP Trooper. The body was located in a thick tree and bush area less than 100 feet from the shoreline and nearly a quarter mile from Morland’s body.
Strickland’s hunting gear was camouflage, which made it difficult to find in the woods. The debris from his boat and equipment helped lead officials in the right direction to the bodies.
The time and cause of death remains unknown by the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office, but Helen mentioned hypothermia as a possible cause.
Officials confirmed there were no signs of drug or alcohol use, or any suspicion of foul play.
Our prayers continue to be with the Strickland and Morland families.
