When we heard Inglourious Basterds star Daniel Brühl would be playing the villain in Captain America: Civil War, we thought for sure his story would be a continuation of a thread that began at the end of Winter Soldier.
But it turns out Daniel’s character won’t be the son of Strucker. He’s going to be the father of Evil!
In a casting call sheet, Disney let slip the identity of Daniel’s dastardly role! The Rush star will be playing Baron Zemo!

Not only is Zemo one of Cap’s most fearsome foes, he’s also the creator of the Masters Of Evil — a super villain team that nearly takes down The Avengers!
And his son, the next Baron, is responsible for the creation of The Avengers’ greatest rival superhero team, the Thunderbolts.
If Cap will be facing off against Iron Man, we don’t know how Zemo will figure in, but we’re excited for what this could mean for the future of the Marvel movie universe!
