Demi Lovato has deactivated her Twitter.
After news of 21 Savage‘s arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in Atlanta over the weekend, memes making light of the rapper’s possible deportation on social media went viral.
And when the songstress joined in on Sunday, the backlash came swift as she shared one meme referencing how no one knew the 26-year-old was British, along with tweeting:

“So far 21 savage memes have been my favorite part of the Super Bowl.”

The Sorry Not Sorry singer tried to clarify her comment, but was only met with more retaliation. She responded:

“If you’re gonna come at me for making a joke, try coming at me with some original not involving drugs.”

And later wrote:

“F**k Twitter. This is why I don’t tweet anymore.”

Demi also took to her Instagram Story, saying “This break couldn’t last long enough tbh” as she went on to address the criticisms about her alleged drug use and near-fatal overdose just months ago. See (below):

As for her last bit mentioning singer Wale, the two seemingly butted heads over the controversy on social media:

In the meantime, the 26-year-old starlet has been trending on Twitter after deactivating her account, and there’s a whole range of emotions happening on the internet right now:
