Diddy is fighting back against a witness, an attorney, and more amid the shocking allegations against him!
While the music mogul is behind bars waiting for his sex trafficking trial to start in May, he filed a defamation lawsuit in New York on Wednesday against a man named Courtney Burgess, who testified before a federal grand jury claiming to have evidence of his alleged freak offs, as well as his attorney Ariel Mitchell-Kidd, and Nexstar Media Inc. — which owns NewsNation. Why? According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Diddy is claiming Burgess and Mitchell made up “outrageous lies” about him to “gain social media fame, enrich themselves, and strip Mr. Combs of his reputation, livelihood and right to a fair trial.”

You see, both Burgess and Mitchell-Kidd spoke out about the sex trafficking allegations made against the rapper on NewsNation’s Banfield in November following his testimony in front of a grand jury. Burgess claimed to have received 11 flash drives from Diddy’s ex Kim Porter before her death, including copies her memoir and sex tapes of eight celebrities — “two to three” of them minors who were assaulted by Diddy. Courtney said “all of” the celebs appeared to be under the influence in the videos and that they were “victims,” not “perpetrators.” Awful if true. None of these videos has been made public.
Burgess told NewsNation he saw what is on the tapes, but he does not have them in his possession anymore. However, Mitchell-Kidd claims they have evidence to support his accusations. And this isn’t the only time the attorney has talked about the Diddy sex tapes. She previously told The New York Post that one of the male celebs was “more high-profile than” the Bad Boy Records founder, saying:
“I can verify that it exists. That it’s real and that the other person in the video is very visible. There’s no question of if it’s that person in the video.”
Well, Diddy does not like how outspoken the two have been throughout all this! He first tried to put a gag order in place to stop any “witnesses and their counsel” from talking — including Burgess and Mithcell-Kid. The Making the Band alum insisted back then that they were lying and no such tapes showing him assaulting celebrities and minors exist. Now, he maintains Burgess and Mithcell-Kid are not telling the truth. He also has taken things a step further and sued them. For a lot of money, too!
Per the court docs, Diddy is seeking $50 million in damages, including punitive, for the harm the “false and defamatory statements have caused.” He alleged the “malicious lies” from Burgess and Mitchell-Kid, platformed by NewsNation, caused him to suffer from “significant reputational and economic harm.” The “intentionally false and defamatory statements have also poisoned the minds” of a potential jury for his upcoming trial, the record producer argued. His attorney Erica Wolff added in a statement:
“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is taking a stand against the malicious falsehoods that have been fabricated and amplified by individuals seeking to profit at his expense. These defendants have willfully fabricated and disseminated outrageous lies with reckless disregard for the truth. Their falsehoods have poisoned public perception and contaminated the jury pool. This complaint should serve as a warning that such intentional falsehoods, which undermine Mr. Combs’s right to a fair trial, will no longer be tolerated.”
So far, only Mitchell-Kid has addressed the lawsuit. In a statement to TMZ, she called it a “pathetic ploy to silence victims” and plans to countersue Diddy soon:
“This is just a pathetic ploy to silence victims and people who stand up for victims. Diddy has time to sue but refuses to accept service for the lawsuits already filed against him. I look forward to countersuing and ensuring the court punishes not only Diddy but also his lawyers who filed this pathetic lawsuit for this frivolous and meritless filing.”
It sounds like more legal trouble is heading Diddy’s way! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments.
