Comedian D.L. Hughley was rushed to the hospital this weekend after collapsing on stage in the middle of a comedy set in Nashville, Tennessee.
The comedian, who was performing at Zanies Comedy Club in front of a sold out crowd, was later diagnosed with coronavirus after receiving aid and having tests administered at the hospital.

It all started around 11:00 p.m. local time on Friday night, when the former sitcom star and longtime professional comedian was in the middle of his set in front of an energetic crowd. Seated on a stool on stage, Hughley appeared to suddenly fall back and go unconscious almost without any warning, right in the middle of working on some of his material for the crowd.
Fortunately, the comedian’s manager and several other people were right off stage, and they took immediate action as D.L.’s on-stage condition began to seriously deteriorate. They jumped into action, hauling him off the stage and away from the public eye. Things were serious enough almost immediately that an ambulance was called, and a fire truck showed up, as well. The comedian eventually regained consciousness, but he was nevertheless put on a stretcher and sent to the local hospital, according to TMZ.
You can see the disturbing video from that night, from the same source, too. As you can see (below, though it looks pretty unsettling!!!), it shows Hughley receive a water bottle from a security guard right before his speech becomes labored and something clearly becomes wrong with him slumping over on-stage:
Wow… that’s SO scary to just see him slump over like that.
Thank goodness there were people on scene to render aid immediately!
Hours later, the funny man posted an update to his Instagram account, confirming he’d actually tested positive for COVID-19, and adding more. You can see that (below):
Wow. What a surprising diagnosis — and a scary event, to be sure! That video of him passing out is really extreme!!

Hughley’s team also released a statement to the media, sharing the following message about the longtime TV star and comic:
“[Hughley was] suffering from exhaustion after all the week’s work and travel, and was kept overnight at the hospital for tests under doctor’s orders. He is awake and feeling better, and wishes to thank everyone for the very kind prayer and thoughts.”
No kidding. Here’s to a full, fast recovery for Hughley after that scary, unexpected ordeal in the nightclub.
Reactions, Perezcious readers? Coronavirus is nothing to joke about! We sincerely hope Hughley fully recovers, and everybody else continues to take this thing as seriously as it should be taken!
