Ethan Hawke is one busy actor/director who has his fingers in a lot of pies.
And diapers!
The Hamlet star and father of four says that his secret to parenting is being laid back. Ethan says:
“Having four of them you see how little control you have. When I had my first, I thought my parenting was so important but when you have four of them you realise human beings are so completely themselves, they are so unique unto themselves, that it doesn├óΓé¼Γäót have that much to do with you.”
But Ethan makes it clear that being laissez-faire doesn’t mean being neglectful. There are things you can control and things you can’t. He says:
“I mean obviously you want to create a situation where they├óΓé¼Γäóre healthy and have a good education. But apart from that you don├óΓé¼Γäót have any control really about whether they├óΓé¼Γäóre literary or whether they├óΓé¼Γäóre interested in sports.”
We can get behind Ethan on this one.
He just wants his kids to be themselves whether they want to be Explorers or to make an Assault On Precinct 13.
Wait, don’t let them do that last one!
