William H. Macy 'Concerned' About Felicity Huffman's 'Well-Being' As She Prepares For Prison!

For many followers of the college admissions scandal, Felicity Huffman‘s case is basically over.

Two weeks ago, the Desperate Housewives star became the first parent to face sentencing for crimes identified in the federal sting of a widespread bribery ring, known internally as Operation Varsity Blues.

Huffman pleaded guilty almost immediately, publicly proclaiming her remorse and throwing herself on the mercy of the court. She told the judge at sentencing:

“I was frightened, I was stupid, and I was so wrong. I am deeply ashamed of what I’ve done. I take full responsibility for my actions. I will deserve whatever punishment you give me.”

She was sentenced to 14 days in jail, a fine of $30,000, a year of supervised release, and 250 hours of community service.

The sentence is a relatively light one — certainly a breeze compared to whatever Lori Loughlin and her husband will face if they’re convicted; they pleaded not guilty and got hit with even more charges.

While some may consider this a slap on the wrist, it doesn’t exactly feel like “no time at all” for the woman who is about to spend two weeks in prison, or for the family members about to watch their wife and mother be taken away. And the light sentence has apparently not provided much relief for the stress of the situation.

Felicity’s husband, William H. Macy, is particularly concerned. According to a source spilling to People magazine, Macy “continues to worry about his wife’s well-being.”

“He has seen firsthand how difficult this experience has been on her. He’s been extremely supportive and very protective of her all along the way.”

The insider says despite continuing to work — he has been acting and directing for the new season of Showtime‘s Shameless this whole time — he has nevertheless been right by his wife’s side.

Well, not right by her side.

After all, Bill was NOT charged despite being in on the scam.

Huffman was accused by the government of paying $15,000 for a high school counselor to serve as proctor on her daughter’s SAT and alter the completed test to get her a better score. The indictment includes phone calls in which the actress confirms her involvement in the crime.

However, Macy is not even referred to by name in the indictment, just listed as SPOUSE, despite also being recorded on a call discussing the illegal activity.

It’s unclear if the government didn’t think they had quite so rock solid a case against him, but one thing is for sure. He was NOT standing next to his wife of 22 years as a defendant in the case.
