Firerose Speaks Out Amid Billy Ray Cyrus Divorce -- Calls Him An 'Evil Man' Who Made Her Follow 'Strict Rules’

Billy Ray Cyrus‘ estranged wife Firerose is ready to speak out about their messy split.

On Sunday, the musician broke her silence on the couple’s nasty divorce — which has seen them both bring forth domestic violence allegations against the other. In her court documents, Firerose has alleged that the Achy Breaky Heart artist kicked her out of their Tennessee home on the same day she was set to undergo a double mastectomy following her BRCA1 gene diagnosis, which puts her at a higher risk of getting breast cancer, while claiming it was an abusive romance.

Speaking emotionally to Page Six, the 36-year-old claimed her husband screamed at her and made her feel like a prisoner in their home before the divorce, she explained:

“Billy had very strict rules. I didn’t have a car. I was only allowed to go to the local chiropractor and allowed once a month to get my nails done … it was systematic isolation and I couldn’t find the courage to leave.”

She claims friends and family were banned from visiting — and she was even restricted from communicating with them! She alleged:

“If I had to send a text, I had to read it out to him for permission. It was the same for email.”

One of her close pals agreed with this, telling the outlet that “it felt like Firerose was in a prison that she didn’t sign up for.”

This stress started to affect her very early on in the relationship, causing her to faint just two days before their October 2023 wedding! Despite landing in the hospital, Billy Ray supposedly accused her of causing “a circus.” Reflecting on the eventual wedding day, a stylist, who has been a friend of Firerose’s for the last six years and who did her hair for the special day, said:

“It definitely wasn’t this abundance of joy. Billy Ray didn’t want her family there. He was very picky about who could come to the property. It would have been a better day for her if she had been able to have some family and some of her LA friends there.”

Allegedly, the crooner offered to fly her aunt and uncle (who raised her) from Australia to be at the ceremony, but later took back the offer, leaving them “heartbroken.” It’s always a red flag when a person is isolated from their loved ones!

On what was causing all the stress, Firerose, born Johanna Rose Hodges, said:

“He kept saying ‘dumb f**king bitch,’ then ‘You’re the love of my life, I can’t wait to marry you.’”

The country star would also give her the silent treatment for hours or even days, she shared:

“I withdrew …I was afraid to talk.”

As Perezcious readers know, the pair first met in 2010 while Billy Ray was still on Hannah Montana. He was 48 while his now-wife was just 22. Oh, and he was also still married to his baby momma Tish Cyrus! Despite that little hiccup, he told Firerose they were “soulmates” and that they’d have a love story for the ages — even though they barely stayed in touch until 10 years later when he tracked her down to do a duet. He claimed he hadn’t stopped thinking about her, Firerose recalled:

“Every day, he told me, ‘I’m getting divorced’ but he said it was complicated because of the kids, and they had been married for so long. I just accepted everything he told me to be true.”

They started dating and released their song A New Day in 2021, but Firerose was told not to talk about their romance. He eventually filed for divorce from Tish in April 2022 — and Firerose is insisting she had no idea they were still legally married when she started dating him, telling the outlet:

“I would never ever have entered into a relationship with a married man, but he was such a great manipulator.”

Hmm.

Things really took a turn for the worse when Firerose moved from LA to Tennessee in 2022 and Billy Ray allegedly started isolating her “from every single person in my life,” except for her AA sponsor who she demanded to continue speaking to. Her loved ones started worrying about her — and allegedly for good reason:

“He would rage at me, shout at me at the top of his lungs. He would terrify me, yelling, ‘You stupid dumb f**king bitch, crazy w****.’ It was illogical and insane and terrifying.”

Jeez.

The After The Storm singer was eventually allowed to have a car — but when she drove to see a therapist, her hubby yelled at her because he thought she was talking about him in her session. And when she was upfront about having surgery for her BRCA1 condition, Billy Ray wanted her to stay at a cabin on the farm with a nurse. While some LA friends offered to come care for her, Firerose was once again stranded without her support system, she said:

“I didn’t even know how to tell my friends they may not be allowed in the property.”

But, ultimately, she never had the operation since her partner kicked her out and filed for divorce on the same day the surgery was scheduled for.

The outlet even learned that one of Billy Ray’s children encouraged his wife to leave him! Whoa! Firerose added:

“There is no relationship that Billy has that is not affected by his narcissism.”

All this said, it’s important to note that Billy Ray has denied all these allegations. He’s also levied many of the same complaints against his wife, such as claiming she blocked him from speaking to one of his children and that he was the victim of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse by his spouse.

Discussing the divorce battle, Firerose called it “excruciatingly painful,” and she hit back at her ex’s claims, arguing:

“This is a smear campaign by the person I was deeply in love with for four years and in a relationship with and who has decided to wage full blown war against me.”

As a result of this legal trouble, Firerose said she’s lost hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of work, including a role in a Hallmark movie. A friend of hers, who works in the mental health field, also told the publication:

“I’m one of the only friends who was aware of the verbal, emotional and psychological abuse Firerose has endured by Billy, as she was completely isolated and afraid of sharing what she was going through with others. As a victim of abuse myself, she felt comfortable confiding in me of her experiences and I could tell she was becoming worn down.”

However, Firerose did confirm that she was married once before the Old Town Road artist when she was 21, but she said she tried to tell her partner “numerous times” and he never wanted to know. Also, they ended it amicably much unlike this current ordeal, she noted:

“When Billy decided to discard me it was [in] a brutal way. I would never treat another human being so cruelly.”

She also slammed him for using a love note against her, in which she seemed to beg him to take her back, declaring:

“He’s attempting to use my loving notes as proof that he could not have been abusing me because I love him. But it’s because you love them that you tolerate this behavior.”

Admitting she had some “very dark years” in her early 20s before she got sober, she noted:

“I think he will use every single thing against me. He’s an evil man.”

But she concluded:

“Knowing so many other women and so many other people who are, unfortunately, survivors of domestic abuse — and have to face all of this, every day, behind closed doors — makes me realize I have to find courage. I don’t think I have it — but I have an obligation. If I can’t use my public platform, then what chance does anybody have?”

The pair are set to have another court hearing on Monday, per the outlet. This remains a VERY messy he-said, she-said legal fight! Thoughts? Let us know in the comments (below).
