John Stamos Wanted Elizabeth Olsen To Play Michelle In Fuller House -- PLUS Why The Olsen Twins REALLY Didn't Want To Do The Show!

The premiere season of Fuller House will bring back the entire cast from the original series — except for Michelle Tanner!
By now, it’s no secret that Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen won’t be appearing in the Netflix reboot.
John Stamos revealed that he reached out to the famous sisters in hopes they would reprise the role that shot them to super stardom, but explained that they “don’t consider themselves actresses” anymore.

But according to executive producer Bob Boyett, the 29-year-olds aren’t returning to the spinoff series for a few different reasons!
Speaking to People, Boyett explained:

“Ashley said, I have not been in front of a camera since I was 17 and I don’t feel comfortable acting. Mary-Kate said, ‘It would have to be me because Ash doesn’t want to do it. But the timing is so bad for us.'”

Production conflicted with MK & A’s schedule as designers of The Row and Elizabeth and James. The show will play into the Olsens’ careers, explaining that Michelle isn’t at the family reunion in the first episode because she’s too busy running her fashion empire in New York!
After realizing the twins were a no-go, the cast tried to get inventive to see if MK & A’s sister Elizabeth Olsen would be interested in taking on the role of Michelle!

Stamos revealed on Andy Cohen‘s Sirius show that they reached out to the Avengers: Age Of Ultron star’s agent to see if she would be interested, explaining:

“I said, ├óΓé¼╦£Call the sister [Elizabeth Olsen]. Ask her’… We talked to her agent and her agent was like, ├óΓé¼╦£Come on, she’s not going to do that,’ but we did call her agent.”

Yeah, she might be too busy filming blockbuster movies at the moment to play a role made famous by her older sisters!
So, it looks like we’ll just have to enjoy Fuller House sans Michelle (for now!)
