Bet You Missed This Country Superstar's 'Game Of Thrones' Cameo!

Game Of Thrones Battle Of Winterfell Cameo Chris Stapleton

Did you think Game Of Thrones broke its tradition of celeb cameos in Sunday night’s Battle of Winterfell?
Nope! You just missed it.
To be fair, you may have missed a LOT of what was going on due to the choice to keep the nighttime battle as poorly lit as it actually would have been.

But even without that obfuscation, viewers probably couldn’t have picked out a cameo by country music sensation Chris Stapleton.
[Spoilers Ahead, Sorry!]
The quintuple Grammy winner could be (barely) seen in the moment the Night King raises those who’ve already fallen.
Apparently Chris the Wildling was killed in battle, because his eyes opened blue as he’s turned into a wight.
Here’s the moment paused (and brightened):

The singer-songwriter confirmed the cameo later, telling Rolling Stone he had his people reach out to the show:

“I was like, you know, I would gladly fly to wherever in the world just to be a small part and get to watch that show going down. They were gracious enough to let me come participate that way.”

Chris, along with his bass player J.T. Cure and his tour manager, did just that, traveling to Northern Ireland just to film a bit in the infamous 55-night shoot.

“They knew we weren’t actors. So the direction was basically, we’re going to place you, and when we tell you to, open your eyes. And they trained us on how White Walkers are supposed to stand up and move when they’re first waking up. We had a crash course in that.”

No one was more excited to watch Chris’ onscreen doom than his wife, who posted to social media:

Awww.
So how did Chris react to that big surprise finale? Basically the same as everyone else!

“I was betting that the most Game of Thrones thing that could happen would be that the White Walkers would win. That was what I thought was going to happen and that’s off the table at this point. I don’t really know. Once again, they do a bang-up job of keeping you guessing as to what will happen. That’s why it’s the greatest television show certainly of modern times and possibly ever.”

If you couldn’t tell by him lying down in the mud for hours wearing gross makeup and contact lenses, he’s a bit of a fan. LOLz!
